We had a wonderful check-in experience thanks to Raymond! From the moment we arrived, he greeted us with a warm smile and made us feel instantly welcome. The process was smooth and efficient — Raymond explained everything clearly, offered helpful local tips, and made sure we were comfortable before heading to our room. We stayed here during our trip to Chicago and really enjoyed our stay! The location is super convenient, especially for my sister’s part coz she joined the Chicago Marathon and it’s very accessible to the starting line, also it’s just a short walk to the shops and restaurants along Michigan Avenue, so we were able to explore a lot by foot. 😍 Our room was 4/5 clean tho it looks old, but it’s cozy, and nicely designed, the room cleaning was not done everyday. The bed was comfortable, and it felt like a nice little break after a full day of sightseeing. The complimentary breakfast buffet was delicious and fresh and the staff were also friendly and helpful most especially Sir Raymond, which made the whole experience even better. 🥰
The room was fine and clean and the housekeeping staff was wonderful. The bed was very comfortable and the location was very convenient. However, the front desk staff was less than pleasant, especially upon check in when springing the hidden fees upon me, which are not disclosed on Expedia. Bookers beware that you will be hit with mandatory hidden fees when checking in that will be presented to you as if they are the refundable hold fee all hotels charge, when in reality it’s an “all inclusive resort fee” thing and then you’re hit with the refundable fee on top of that. The hidden fees I was met with were more than my two night stay I booked on Expedia.
My room was decent. Some of the staff service was great, very friendly. Let me check in early, store my luggage, etc. I wasnt pleased about the extra "mandatory benefits". Just call them mandatory fees, and be more transparent about them. I only eat halal food, and I dont drink. The vouchers didnt cover anything beneficial for me in the restaurant, I was able to use the drinks one for soft drinks. It's worth noting these vouchers dont even really cover the cost of any item, just knocks $10 dollars, and everything, even the chips was $15 upwards. The breakfast was typical hotel breakfast, again not many options for a halal diet, but I managed to grab some eggs and french toast most days. The staff were very friendly though. The hotels locations was great, it was near everything I needed, or 10mins away. I wouldnt stay here again, but I didnt have as bad an experience as many others reviewing here. Except for those mandatory "benefits" - which was just a rubbish way of getting more money from people. You have to factor the lift into your travels, it takes flipping ages. If there's lots of people checking in, good luck getting a lift within 20mins (I'm not exaggerating). The roof top bar view is decent, sandwiched between buildings and bar itself never seemed to be open.
